Snorting drugs is a method or route of administration of a powdered drug, typically an illicit drug such as cocaine or amphetamine. Snorting drugs involves lining the nasal passages with the powder by sniffing or snorting drugs through a tube, often a rolled up note of cash. The powder is not inhaled, it is applied to the mucus membranes in the nose and is absorbed into the bloodstream, although it is also swallowed, as the powder is cleared from the nose by mucus, and drains down the back of the throat.

Snorting drugs is often preferred among users of powdered drugs such as cocaine, at least initially, before damage is done to the inside of the nose, because it does not involve the risks associated with smoke inhalation or injection, and because it provides a rapid drug effect.

Pronunciation: snort-ing drugs
Also Known As: sniffing
Joanna spent her summer snorting drugs, and by the fall, had become addicted to cocaine.
