Definition: Cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES) is a type of neurotherapy.

A small device is used to generate low levels of electrical stimulation directed at the brain. Although still somewhat experimental, it has been postulated that it works to help those with addictions by affecting brainwave patterns.

Cranial electrotherapy stimulation should be used under the supervision of a qualified neurotherapist, although small portable units can be used for home treatment.
