Definition: H1N1 is a strain of the flu virus. In 2009, it was classified as a pandemic.

Symptoms of H1N1 flu almost always include the sudden onset of a cough, fever, fatigue, muscle aches, sore throat, headache, decreased appetite, and runny nose. Sometimes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are also present.

Pronunciation: H-1-N-1
Also Known As: swine flu
Examples: Many people at risk of developing complications from the H1N1 flu virus are being vaccinated.
